Brighton & Hove Albion loanee Steven Alzate is now on his way back to the club.

Standard Liege have announced that following a club decision, they authorised the 25-year-old to have an early return to England.

The Belgian side are said to be focusing only on players who’ll stay in their squad for next season, and that’s not the case with the midfielder.

So far, Brighton haven’t made an announcement or any comments on the player’s return to the club.

Alzate was first loaned by Brighton to Standard Liege in 2022, and had his spell there renewed last summer. He had been a regular starter there until March, and then ended up losing his place in the team.

Some rumours in January already claimed the Seagulls could negotiate the player’s exit to another club in the winter market. Now it seems like the perfect opportunity to do so, as he’s unlikely to be in Roberto De Zerbi’s plans.

The Colombian midfielder is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €4.5m, so there’s the prospect of a fee there.
