Wolverhampton Wanderers are edging closer towards completing a deal for Flamengo’s João Gomes, according to multiple claims.
O Dia in Brazil states Wolves have submitted a €17m bid to sign the midfielder and their proposal is ‘already accepted’ by the Rio de Janeiro club.
It’s further claimed the 21-year-old has also accepted the base salary proposed by the Premier League side. The parties involved in the operation have started to exchange documents to complete the deal.
This claim is echoed by SBT Rio journalist Venê Casagrande, who took to Twitter to report the deal to take the Brazilian to Wolves is ‘close to being finalised’.
Casagrande adds the two clubs have started exchanging documents after Wolves’ bid was accepted and Gomes gave his OK for the transfer.
Over in Spain, AS explain the South American is ‘close to becoming’ Julen Lopetegui’s new signing at Molineux. Wolves are about to ‘finalise the hiring’ of the player in the winter market.
AS say Gomes is considered one of the biggest prospects coming out of Brazil in recent years. He made 63 appearances in all competitions in 2022 for Flamengo, scoring two goals and registering two assists in the process.
