Earlier today we covered claims from Italy that Brighton & Hove Albion are closing in on a deal for Fiorentina’s Igor.

Fulham had been chasing the Brazilian for much of the summer window, as the London club pursued deals for multiple central defenders at the same time. They seemed to be placing low bids for various options, hoping something would go their way.

In the case of Igor, it would appear they’ve lost out.

Brighton came in strongly, and seemed far more serious than their Premier League rivals. The earlier claims stated the deal should be concluded in the coming days, and Alfredo Pedulla shares that confidence of a quick transfer.

In an exclusive, the Italian journalist says Igor’s transfer ‘could close today’. Roberto De Zerbi wants the player in before Brighton go on preseason tour, and a deal is set to be done for around €15m.

Bonuses can be added to that amount, likely based on individual and club success. Now it will be a case of rushing a medical through and getting the appropriate visas for the Premier League and preseason.
