Everton are ‘continue to pay attention’ to Porto forward Luis Diaz after trying to secure his signature in the summer.
That’s according to O Jogo, who say there is every chance someone is going to pay his release clause to get him out of the club.
Everton were heavily linked with the Colombian winger throughout the summer as they looked to bolster their forward options and add much-needed wide players to the squad.
Negotiations were opened with Porto over a move, but the two clubs couldn’t agree on a price, with the Portuguese side insisting that the Blues pay €50m, a price they simply couldn’t afford.
He’s very much the star of the show for club and country, and Everton continue to keep an eye on him, say O Jogo.
Indeed, there is a feeling that he won’t end up seeing out his current contract, which runs until 2024.
That’s certainly something former striker Jackson Martinez believes, stating that “if he continues like this, it may be difficult” to keep him as his release clause, which is currently €80m, “will be paid with ease”.
That’s unlikely to be by Everton given their financial restraints and the extreme limitations they now find themselves under, thanks to Financial Fair Play.
The interest remains from them nonetheless, though, and several other clubs with the ‘economic power’ to take him from Porto.
