Spanish journalist Alfredo Duro has made bold claims in El Chiringuito regarding Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata.
According to him, the ex-Juventus frontman has emerged as a target for Real Madrid, just a year after leaving them for the second time, after he moved to Stamford Bridge from the Champions League winners last summer.
New manager Julen Lopetegui is looking to bolster his side’s attack after Real Madrid lost Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. So far, they have struggled to bring in an experienced player and Duro claims the 25-year-old has emerged as a target, but he is not the priority target.
He also goes on to stress the 13-time European champions don’t see the opportunity to re-sign their former player badly and Morata would be happy to return to Santiago Bernabeu. The journalist further claims there is a real possibility of his compatriot rejoining Real Madrid.
We find these claims a bit strange, especially because this news broke two days after the player told Chelsea’s official website that he is happy at the west London club after starting twice under Maurizio Sarri.
Another thing to note is that Lopetegui decided against including him in Spain’s World Cup squad, despite Morata featuring under current Real boss in eight World Cup qualifiers and scoring five goals in the process.
We have our reservations regarding this story because El Chiringuito are the only one talking about Morata to Real Madrid, while none of the Spanish outlets are saying anything regarding the player.
Thus, it’s highly unlikely that either Morata or Chelsea are interested in the transfer this month.
