Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport seemed fairly confident that a deal was about to be struck between Inter Milan and Manchester United regarding the transfer of Ivan Perisic.

Ed Woodward was said to be prepared to spend €52m on the Croatian winger, and, despite Luciano Spalletti’s desire to see the winger stay, there was a strong possibility it would happen.

Well, according to Corriere dello Sport, talks are still ongoing regarding this particular deal, with the player’s agent taking time out of watching Real Madrid thump Juventus 4-1 in Cardiff to have a chat with Manchester United regarding his client.

During the meeting, the representative informed the Premier League side that Bayern Munich had joined Paris Saint-Germain in their interest for Perisic, as Carlo Ancelotti rates the Inter Milan star quite highly.

Furthermore, the Italian newspaper state the relationship between the Serie A and Bundesliga clubs is ‘excellent’, seemingly hinting things could move quickly if an offer was made.

With Franck Ribéry not getting any younger, Kinglsey Coman barely used last year and Douglas Costa on the agenda of more than one club this summer, bringing in someone like Perisic, who already knows the league well from stints at Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund, isn’t the worst idea.

Still, José Mourinho’s side appear to remain in the lead. For now.
