Marina Granovskaia and Petr Čech both left Chelsea after the club was purchased by a consortium led by Todd Boehly.

The American, who acted as the Blues’ interim director of football in the summer window, is looking to bring in an expert for the role at Stamford Bridge.

For the past few weeks, several candidates have been linked to Chelsea and among them is Christopher Vivell. The 35-year-old was relieved from his duties at RB Leipzig on Friday.

The Bundesliga side have confirmed a difference of views as the reason for his immediate departure on October 7th.

Later that day, reports coming out of Germany stressed the west London club are in talks with the German for the technical director role. These claims have also been echoed in the English press.

Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff detailed the reason for Vivell’s sacking from the German club.

“The trust was no longer there and then we acted consistently and released him. In the end things didn’t fit anymore. Then working together no longer makes sense,” he told Sky, as relayed by Sportbuzzer.

When asked about the reports linking Vivell to Chelsea, Mintzlaff said: “I can’t comment on that because I don’t know. We know that Chelsea like what we do.”
