Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta ‘could reconnect with Arsenal’ to set up an exchange deal involving Christian Eriksen and Lucas Torreira, according to Calciomercato.it.
It’s claimed the former Tottenham star’s ‘fate seems to be sealed’ and the 28-year-old could return to the Premier League next month.
Torreira, meanwhile, is currently on loan at Atlético Madrid and isn’t enjoying regular minutes with Los Rojiblancos.
According to the report, Mikel Arteta’s side ‘would be open’ to the idea of making the Uruguayan available in the winter market.
Torreira has long been a target for the San Siro side and despite his struggles in La Liga, the Nerazzurri have ‘not lost sight of him’. Inter could set up an ‘equal exchange’, with a valuation of €30m, for the two players.
Calciomercato.it also adds the possibility of a swap deal involving Eriksen and Granit Xhaka ‘cannot be totally excluded’.
This report sounds like Inter are keen on offloading Eriksen in the next window, rather than there being a genuine interest from Arsenal to do a swap deal or sign the ex-Spurs man.
Inter may anticipate competition from AC Milan for signing Torreira, who has been their ‘long-standing’ market objective.
Antonio Conte’s side will find obstacles to carry out an exchange operation involving the Dane and the former Sampdoria man.
That’s because a report from Calciomercato.it explained on Thursday that Arsenal have rejected an opportunity to sign Eriksen.
In addition to this, Torreira’s agent has also stated his client is happy at Atlético and is not looking to leave the Spanish side in January.
