On May 12th, AS reported Chelsea have expressed interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar.

The Ligue 1 side are keen to get rid of the forward in the summer and this has led to reports linking him to the Blues and a few other English clubs.

ESPN Deportes now claim Chelsea ‘may be a more likely path’ for the 31-year-old as their ‘attention is focused’ on signing him.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly met PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi in Paris earlier this year and sources close to the clubs have told ESPN the pair discussed the possibility of the Brazil international arriving at Stamford Bridge.

It’s claimed Neymar was offered to the American billionaire in the winter market. Boehly was ‘tempted’ but never made a formal offer.

Apart from Chelsea, Manchester United have been pushed forward as an option for the player. ESPN state the chance of the player joining the latter is ‘slim’.

The Red Devils were ‘traumatised’ with the Cristiano Ronaldo experience and don’t want another superstar with a high salary who could cause problems within the dressing room. Therefore, Chelsea seem to be the ‘more likely path’ than United for the South American.

Neymar has a deal until 2027 and receives a salary of €30m per season. He has 18 goals and 17 assists from 29 games this season.
