In their latest burst of imagination regarding the Welshman, Don Balon have claimed Chelsea are trying to get ahead of Tottenham Hotspur to sign Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale, and are ‘willing to do anything’ to beat their London rivals to the player.

Bale has struggled with form and fitness this season leading to reports Real Madrid could offload the Welshman in the summer transfer window.

It’s reported by the Spanish media outlet Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is insistent on bringing Bale to Stamford Bridge, and could even use Eden Hazard as bait.

The Chelsea attacker has been linked with a move to Real Madrid on numerous occasions, and it’s well known the Spanish side’s president Florentino Perez is an admirer of the player.

Initially Perez was looking to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham by using Bale in a swap deal plus cash. However, it’s reported Perez could turn his attention to Hazard as he could be a cheaper option for the Spanish giants.

Despite these claims from Don Balon it’s unlikely Chelsea or Tottenham would want to part with their best players in a deal to sign Bale. The Wales international has become injury prone whilst playing at Real Madrid, and this is a concern for the Champions League holders.

It’s no wonder given Bale’s problems the Spanish media would be talking up a move for both Hazard and Kane, but it’s likely Chelsea and Tottenham wouldn’t entertain such a swap deal, plus cash, for the two players.
