Paris-Saint Germain star Thiago Silva has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 club.
The Brazilian defender has a contract until 2017 at Paris-Saint Germain, however, that can be extended for another year should the Ligue 1 club qualify for the Champions League.
The 32-year-old has been speaking to the French media (via Foot Mercato), and was asked about his future.
He said: “It’s not for me to decide, we need to talk. We started talking last year, at the end of the season, and after it stopped, I do not know why.
“But I’m happy here, I want to stay, extend my contract. We need to talk with the president to know what we will do in the future.”
It appears Paris-Saint Germain are having second thoughts about extending Silva’s contract, and it remains to be seen if Chelsea would want to take advantage of the situation.
It’s very likely Antonio Conte would want to sign defensive reinforcements in the future, but Thiago Silva would be a short term fix.
Earlier this month, the player’s agent Paulo Tonietto told Sport Witness there had been no contact so far, but added “Chelsea are a big club. And the English league is the best in the world.”
