Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann and Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen have been linked with a move to Barcelona, but it’s now claimed the two are not the priority targets for Ernesto Valverde’s side.

That’s probably because there’s difficulties getting them.

Today’s edition of the Catalan newspaper Sport claims AS Monaco star Thomas Lemar has taken the first place in the list of objectives for the La Liga winners. The 22-year-old is currently with the France national team and is now focused on the 2018 World Cup.

Last summer, Barcelona, Liverpool and Arsenal made late approaches to secure Lemar’s services. The Gunners even made a €100m bid for the France international on deadline day, which was turned down by Monaco.

Sport claims Barcelona will face competition from league rivals Atletico Madrid and Chelsea. The Europa League winners and the Premier League outfit have “shown a great interest” in signing Lemar this summer.

Diego Simeone’s side are now trying to convince Griezmann to stay at Atletico with the “eventual arrival of Lemar”, even though the Monaco star’s price tag of €90-€100m still seems excessive for the Spanish capital club.
