The Romelu Lukaku summer saga has come to an end, according to claims from Italy.

Gazzetta Dello Sport writes that the negotiation between Chelsea and AS Roma has ‘been concluded’, and the player is on his way to the Giallorossi on a loan deal.

The Blues will reportedly receive €5.8m for the move, while the Serie A side will afford the player’s €7.5m yearly salary.

The report claims that Lukaku is expected in Rome on Tuesday. There he’ll undergo medical tests and sign the contract with the Giallorossi.

The striker’s return to Serie A is also reported by the Belgian media.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims the deal was sorted out this afternoon with a straight loan, with no buying option for the Italian club.

It’s been a pretty long and unpredictable summer for the 30-year-old, who seemed close to several clubs. At the end of the last season, everything indicated he’d stay at Inter Milan, who were working with Chelsea to renew their deal. Then he was caught negotiating with Juventus and AC Milan.

Despite the many rumours heavily linking him to the Old Lady, that possibility collapsed, with José Mourinho now welcoming him at Roma.
