Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri has been constantly linked with a move to Italy this summer.
The Brazil-born Italy international has seen his playing time restricted in this calendar year as Frank Lampard has preferred Marcos Alonso ahead of him on the left side of the back four.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Italy coach Roberto Mancini advised the 25-year-old to leave the Blues and find a club in Serie A in the upcoming window.
“[Players] need to play continuously. As for the example, it hasn’t happened recently with Emerson Palmieri in the Premier League. I would like him to find a starting role in Italy,” Mancini said.
The defender arrived at Stamford Bride from AS Roma in January 2018, when Antonio Conte was in charge of the London club.
Conte is currently at Inter Milan and the Nerazzurri manager is reportedly keen on reuniting with his former player at San Siro.
Emerson’s agent Fernando Garcia has given an interview to FcInterNews, in which he discussed Mancini’s comment, Inter Milan links and why he has not held talks with Chelsea about his client.
“Mancini hopes that Emerson will return to Serie A to play more? I can’t speak for him,” Garcia said.
“There is nothing official with Inter, but we are certainly talking about a great club. And Conte is a top manager.
“But I haven’t consulted Chelsea, so I don’t know how much they could ask for the player’s sale. I could only do if there is an official proposal.”
