Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has struggled since he arrived at Chelsea from Barcelona towards the end of last summer window.

The Blues showed Thomas Tuchel the exit door just days after the forward arrived at the club and he has failed to have prominence. He’s been restricted to over 500 minutes of action in the league this season.

Aubameyang is unhappy with his situation at Chelsea and is eyeing a move back to the Camp Nou, according to Sport.

The report explains the La Liga side’s plans for the summer. It’s claimed Xavi Hernández wants a backup for Robert Lewandowski, and the Chelsea attacker and Athletico Paranaense star Vitor Roque have been identified as the targets.

Roque is the priority option for Barcelona but it won’t be easy to negotiate a deal with his club. That may not be the case with the Gabonese because he ‘only thinks about playing’ for the La Liga side.

Even though Aubameyang had a deal until 2024, he remains hopeful Chelsea will grant him his ‘letter of freedom’ after a disappointing season, meaning it would be more economically sound for Barca to bet on the 33-year-old over Roque.

Sport, however, don’t specify whether Chelsea are willing to release Aubameyang in the summer.
