Brazilian side Santos are preparing to finalise a deal with Chelsea for striker Deivid Washington, with negotiations ‘moving quickly’ between the two sides.

That’s according to Globo Esporte, who say the two clubs are close to agreeing a €20m deal for the Brazilian youngster.

The newspaper reports that Washington’s days at the Brazilian club are ‘numbered’ as Chelsea have moved to secure his signature and shown themselves to be ‘flexible’ in the negotiations.

They’re willing to increase their first offer of €15m to €20m, figures which are enough to convince Santos into a sale.

Santos are admitting behind the scenes that they need the money and are analysing the details of the possible transfer before hitting the hammer and sealing the sale.

The negotiation is being brokered by agent Giuliano Bertolucci, the same agent who also took Angelo from Santos to Chelsea earlier in the summer transfer window.

The Blues’ first offer was linked to performance goals, such as the number of games, goals scored, and titles won but Santos requested that be changed.

Chelsea are now ready to close a €20m deal instead and want to do it quickly so they can ensure they get the player ahead of other European competition.

Santos are finalising the last details with the Blues before leaving it in the hands of the player and his representatives. Sources have told GE that Washington and his family are ‘excited’ about the move and won’t put any complications in the way of it.
