At the weekend, reports from Brazil claimed Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Atlético Mineiro midfielder Marquinhos.
There wasn’t even time to let that sink in, and the player has already signed a contract extension with the club, committing himself until 2023.
It’s website Super Esportes who reports it today, claiming that his release clause has also been raised.
The outlet writes there are no open negotiations with Chelsea or Manchester United for now. But both clubs have watched him and his recent performances have been impressing them.
Super Desporte also adds that Eintracht Frankfurt are another club interested in the 20-year-old, and could give some competition for the Premier League sides.
We must point out it’s really common to see English clubs being used as potential bidders when South American players are negotiating new contracts. So in this case, let’s see if the chase continues to be reported or if it will vanish now that he’s signed his extension.
