For someone who appears to enjoy every minute he’s on a pitch, regardless of the outcome, Michy Batshuayi, at least according to reports in Spain, isn’t giving it his all at Valencia.

Already left out of the squad for ‘technical reasons’, per his manager Marcelino, the Belgium international was given some reprieve when Roberto Martinez put trust in him in Romelu Lukaku’s absence over the international break.

Scoring two goals against Iceland, the player was rested against Switzerland, and he’s now set to return to Spain.

However, Superdeporte, looking at where Valencia could go in the January transfer window, claim the La Liga side are prepared to give Batshuayi a ‘second chance’.

The Spanish outlet explain they feel the whole situation can be ‘rescued’, having committed to having the player for the entire year, but things need to change.

They state the reasons why the Chelsea loanee was pushed to one side weren’t down to his ‘efficiency’, but more due to a problem with ‘integration, adaptation, demands and commitment’.

That’s quite a long list, and we’ll have to see how the next month or so goes, as while a return in January seems unlikely, who knows what could happen, as the last thing both the Blues and Batshuayi will want is for him to end up sitting on the bench for the rest of the season.
