Following the growing number of articles claiming Thomas Tuchel is interested in Franck Kessiè, it’s quite clear the German manager wants a new midfielder at Chelsea.
The Blues are doing rather well since Frank Lampard was sacked, and while the current squad will do until the end of the season, it’s fair to say a few changes are coming in the summer.
The chase for the Ivorian suggests some of them will be in midfield, but with Eduardo Camavinga likely available, the end result could be different.
We say this because AS in Spain have a lengthy article looking at how Real Madrid’s chances of acquiring the Ligue 1 player risk meeting the same end as they did with Kylian Mbappé when he switched Monaco for Paris Saint-Germain, making it clear it’s ‘now or never’ for the La Liga giants.
The problem is, with Camavinga ‘already making the decision to leave Rennes this summer’ following the exit of Julien Stéphan and the club’s poor performances’, foreign sides are ‘lurking’, including Chelsea and Manchester United.
It’s explained that with the Ligue 1 side now 12th and the player wanting to play in the Champions League plus the lack of funds in Covid-19 times added on top of the fact there is currently an ongoing issue with TV rights in France (that’s a long list), the midfielder would be affordable.
Because he’s entering the final year of his contract, AS don’t reckon they’ll hold off for more than €30-40m, which would be a bargain for a player with a bright future.
Real Madrid know this, as do Chelsea and Manchester United, which is why the Premier League duo are said to be ‘on the lookout’.
One to definitely keep an eye on.
