One of the big question marks at AS Roma going forward, other than the goalkeeping position, is what happens to Edin Dzeko.
The striker could be on his way out, and a lot could depend on whether José Mourinho manages to convince him that staying is a good idea.
If he does, there will be some competition regarding who backs him up, with Borja Mayoral potentially staying and/or the idea of a newcomer being signed, with Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham mentioned by Gazzetta dello Sport on Sunday.
The newspaper explain that a seventh placed spot, which AS Roma managed to acquire by drawing 2-2 away to Spezia, would allow them more manoeuvrability on the market as they would qualify for the Conference League, with the Blues man a potential target.
They state that Abraham know Mourinho ‘well’, and with minutes difficult to come by for the England international under Thomas Tuchel, a future away from Stamford Bridge could be on the cards for the 23-year-old.
It’s not explained if this would be a definitive transfer (we doubt it) or more of a Fikayo Tomori to Milan situation, but the idea would be for the Chelsea player to move to Rome next season.
We’ll have to wait and see, and we’ll be keeping an eye on this for any further developments.
