Chelsea are among the clubs to have made ‘soundings’ in recent months for Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries, with the Italian side open to a sale.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say Inter would be happy to sell Dumfries if any of his suitors are willing to pay their €60m asking price.

The newspaper explains that Inter are planning something of a reinvention of their squad in the coming months, but the ownership have made it clear this can only be done with ‘excellent disposals’ first.

Dumfries is one of the big-name players that could depart, and the club are aware that he is ‘very popular’ in England.

Chelsea are one of the clubs who ‘had already made soundings’ in recent months and would have the financial muscle to match Inter’s demands.

They’ve made it clear to any interested parties that it will take €60m before they even sit at the table but are happy to do a deal as such a figure would allow them to reinvent the squad as they would like to.

Whether Chelsea are willing to pay such a figure for the Dutchman remains to be seen, particularly when they already have Reece James for the right-full back position.

They have been linked with a move for Dumfries for several months, though, and it seems they’re expected to be in the mix again in the next few months
