This week, claims have come from Spain of Swansea City and West Brom interest in Borja Baston.
Experienced for Spain at youth level, and a good goalscorer in those games, Borja has been on no less than five loans away from Atletico. He’s done very well over those loans, and it’s no surprise there’s interest from England.
In April, we covered claims from Spain that Tottenham Hotspur had made an offer for the player. Spanish newspaper AS presented the situation like a deal waiting to happen, one which would only be killed by Atletico getting a transfer ban (something which seems to be in the long grass).
But the Spurs move didn’t happen, and on Thursday AS leave out West Brom too, and cover Spanish radio reports that Swansea continue talks to sign the player.
Claims on Wednesday stated that Atletico want a buyback clause. That may well be what killed Tottenham interest, because apart from that it looks like a very good opportunity to sign a young goalscorer.
