Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez is being linked with a surprise move to Inter Milan.
Italy’s Calciomercatoweb have reported the forward is among potential options for the January transfer window. Inter are happy with the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United, but it’s felt he’s going to need an understudy for the season.
There’s already been a long list of names linked with the possibility, and the Burnley player is the latest to be thrown in there.
It’s thought he’d be a low-cost winter option and may even be available on a loan basis, the type of deal Inter clearly seem to desire.
The 30 year old returned to Burnley in July on a two year deal with the option of a further season. He’s had 143 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, and scored at the weekend against Aston Villa.
Despite the Italian claims, it’s surely unlikely Burnley would consider a loan in the winter market.
But where has Jay Rodriguez come from in all of this? Often when names are plucked from thin air there’s some kind of clear reasoning, and that’s lacking this time.
