It’s now fair to say that Bruno Guimarães will never forget his first start in the Premier League, as he scored a beautiful goal which gave Newcastle United’s a 2-1 away win against Southampton last night.

The midfielder, who arrived at the Magpies in the January transfer window, was finally able to get in the starting team following five other appearances he’d already made for the club from the bench.

It turns out, however, that he ended up being subbed off in the second half, and that caused a little concern about his fitness.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe claimed it looked like it could be cramps, but since Bruno doesn’t speak perfect English, he couldn’t confirm at the time.

Now, as Brazil are today calling up the squad for the upcoming games of the World Cup Qualifiers, there is good news about the midfielder’s situation.

Globo Esporte journalist Bruno Cassucci claims that Newcastle’s Guimarães ‘does not worry for the call up’.

He confirms that the player was subbed because of cramps and tiredness, and points out that he has no injuries.

The midfielder is now expected to be part of the squad which will face Chile and Bolivia in the final rounds of the tournament, but before that, he still has two games to play for Newcastle United, against Chelsea and Everton.
