Wolverhampton Wanderers continue to be named as a potential destination for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Pedrinho.

Wolves interest in signing the 23-year-old had already been reported by the Brazilian media this week, and it’s now Yahoo who points out the Molineux club ‘monitor’ his situation.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, FIFA allowed players to move abroad as free agents until June. With Pedrinho free to leave Shakhtar, several Brazilian sides have been in talks for his move, to have him for at least a few months.

The main one, according to Yahoo, is now said to be Corinthians. Especially since his agent made public that after São Paulo manager Rogério Ceni spoke to the player on the phone, the coach last night claimed he’s no longer interested in the transfer.

There’s, however, an issue to be solved before Wolves can actually compete for the signing. That’s their authorisation to register the player before the transfer window comes.

Sport Witness has been told that the Premier League don’t have a firm public stance to share on the matter, as any change to squad lists outside of the window will require approval from the PL board, so potentially a vote among clubs.

With Brazilian sides moving quickly to get the many Brazilians who play in Ukraine, perhaps it’ll be too late once Wolves and other English clubs do get the green light to go after those footballers.
