Brighton and Hove Albon remain in the picture for Union Saint-Gilloise forward Mohamed Amoura, but face stern competition for him.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that Brighton are very much in the mix for the 23-year-old.

Amoura has been shining for Union SG this season following a summer move from FC Lugano, bagging 22 goals and six assists in 41 games in all competitions to date.

That has, unsurprisingly put him in the spotlight, as did the goal and assist he managed in the 2-1 win over Liverpool in the group stages of the Europa League last year.

He’s been amassing Premier League suitors for months with Brighton naturally put among them given the relationship between the two clubs in recent years.

That was further insisted upon last week, when it was again stated that Brighton were in the picture, with talk about Amoura starting to ramp up again ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tavolieri has confirmed as much, again insisting that they are one of the sides looking at a potential deal for the striker, who is set to cost at least €20m following his impressive first season in Belgium.

“What we can tell you is that at the moment, there is no concrete offer on the table of the Union Saint-Gilloise. That said, on the player’s side, we have discussions and we have a lot of them,” he said.

“We can even say, and this is what we are told with the authorisation of the player, that it is too much. To take up what we are told, there is interest on the part of RB Leipzig. There is also interest on the part of Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.

“Brighton is also necessarily interested in the club of the little sister, the Union Saint-Gilloise. And Lyon also appreciates the profile of Mohamed Amoura.

“What is certain is that the Union Saint-Gilloise knows that it could carry out a very, very beautiful affair this summer with the Algerian international. Which is why it should claim at least €20m, to which bonuses could be added, in particular, as well as a percentage at the resale to free the Algerian international.

“But then, who will pick up the drum? Who will go looking among these different clubs? Brighton, Lyon, Eintracht Frankfurt, URB Leipzig. There could be more coming soon. Who will win the Mohamed Amoura file?”
