Brighton and Hove Albion have already met with Valentín Barco’s representatives about a move as they again eye a move for the youngster.
That’s according to TyC Sports, who say the defender is set to become the most highly valued player in Argentina in the coming weeks.
They explain with the news that Uruguayan Nicolás de la Cruz is set to depart for Flamengo in the current weeks, Barco is set to become the most highly valued player in the country, at least according to the figures compiled by the likes of Transfermarkt.
TyC then go on to look at Barco’s future, which has been up in the air since the summer when Brighton first showed an interest in him.
They explain that the defender has been sought by clubs in Europe for a long time and Brighton made two offers in the middle of the year, but they were rejected because Barco wanted to player in the Copa Libertadores.
That’s not over and with no continental competition now on the horizon for Boca, Brighton have ‘decided to return to the fray’ for him.
They’re yet to make any new offers for the player but, crucially, have ‘already met with his representative’ to discuss a transfer once again.
Barco has a €10m release clause in his current contract, meaning that’s slightly under his value, but the Argentine club are looking to renew that contract and improve it, meaning that ‘everything remains to be seen’ in the coming weeks.
