Since Brighton & Hove Albion engaged in their pursuit of Fiorentina defender Igor, it seemed like they moved ahead of competition for this signing.

Today, as Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport writes about this scenario, they say that’s exactly what is happening.

According to the outlet, Brighton have ‘burned’ Fulham in this competition and Igor is now ‘close’ to joining the Seagulls.

It’s now claimed that Roberto De Zerbi’s side are ‘one step away’ from an agreement, which should be done by the start of the week.

Brighton are believed to be close to the €13-14m demanded by Fiorentina for the transfer, and just a final push is needed for the full deal.

Corriere Dello Sport already talks of ‘exchange of documents’ and a ‘green light’ in the coming days.

It’s recalled that Fulham had been the first club to move for Igor, but the Whites were ‘overtaken’ by Brighton as soon as they joined the fight.

Fiorentina now even seem interested in closing the deal soon, as they’ll be going after Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu to replace the Brazilian.
