Brighton & Hove Albion are now another club added to the race for Universidad de Chile youngster Dario Osorio.

The mention of the Seagulls is made by outlet Bolavip, who feature a story with quotes from Chile’s U20 manager Patricio Ormazabal praising the player.

There they point out that Brighton are one of the sides who made approaches for Osorio, just like other European sides such as Sassuolo and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ormazabal has now pointed out how the 18-year-old has been able to play at higher than his age level since he was first spotted by the national team.

“Without a doubt Dario has great potential. We met him last year in a micro cycle that we had, he came with a lower category with the U17, we saw him and talked to Hernán Caputto so that he could train with the U20,” Ormazabal told ESPN’s F90 (via Bolavip).

A reason why Osorio has been the subject of many rumours lately was a reported agreement from him to sign for Wolves. Earlier this week, TNT Sports claimed there was ‘at least a verbal deal’ for the player to move for a €5m fee.

That report, however, is still to be backed up by other sources. That’s why Bolavip today includes other clubs in the race, so there should still be time for Brighton to move and sign the Chilean teenager.
