Brentford appear likely to have the signing of Girona star Bryan Zaragoza snatched out of their hands, thanks to a surprise move from Bayern Munich.
That’s according to El Desmarque, who say Bayern are ready to pay the player’s €14m release clause and bring him to Germany in January.
Zaragoza has been linked with a move away from Granada for the past few weeks after impressing for them this season and seemingly catching the eye of teams in Europe.
Brentford are one of them, with several reports indicating they could be ready to make a move in January as he’s available for as little as €14m, a figure they would be comfortable with and capable of paying.
It seems the deal has been taken away from them, though, with El Desmarque reporting that one of the pearls of Spanish football ‘is going to the Bundesliga’.
According to them Granada have received a formal offer from Bayern Munich for the player and there is already the principle of an agreement between the two clubs, with the Germans set to pay €15m, a little more than his release clause.
Zaragoza will sign for Bayern for several seasons but remain on loan at Granada until the end of this season, something that he made clear was essential for him.
The deal is now set to be finalised and bring about an end to the speculation around him, as well as the idea of Brentford winning the race, which was a nice idea but has now been stolen away by Bayern.
