Girona winger Savinho has revealed that Arsenal were interested in him last year.

The information was shared by him in a conversation with Sport, who had a story about his good start in La Liga.

Savinho belongs to City Group club Troyes, who signed him from Atlético Mineiro in a €6.5m deal in the summer of 2022. After beating Arsenal in the race, the French side first loaned him out to PSG, and now to Girona.

The winger has one goal and two assists in his first appearances for the La Liga side, and speaking to Sport, he was asked if there were other clubs who made offers to take him from Brazil.

“I was wanted by Arsenal and also by the Brazilian Bragantino,” Savinho told Sport.

The player revealed that one of the reasons he accepted Troyes’ offer was because they’re part of the City Group, giving him the chance to move through their clubs in the future.

Arsenal have scouts in all corners of the world and watched Savinho’s potential very early. Now depending on how well he does in La Liga, the Gunners may regret losing that competition.

Regardless, Mikel Arteta’s South American spies continue their work to look for future Arsenal stars.
