Although the rumours linking Manchester City to Grêmio’s Everton continue, part of the Brazilian media don’t buy the most recent claims.
This week, the English press said that Pep Guardiola’s side are set to fight Milan for the player. It’s been claimed that City already made contact with Grêmio and said they can outbid the Rossoneri in the race. A release clause of £90m has also been mentioned.
Now Globo Esporte, who are usually quite reliable, come up with a different version. They say the release clause is actually €80m, and Grêmio would start negotiating from €40m.
The website even recalls that Manchester City have been linked to Everton for a while now, and say they keep contact with the player’s entourage. However, there have never been talks or bids with Grêmio.
Last week, a Brazilian journalist who had previously reported a Man City bid for Everton. claimed that things didn’t go through because of the FFP.
