As Ajax star David Neres prepares himself for a big Champions League challenge against Juventus tonight, Brazilian website UOL recalls some old stories about him… and pushes Everton interest.

They say the player almost left São Paulo for Palmeiras, and that would’ve been a huge loss for his former club, as he’s now considered a ‘gold mine’.

São Paulo sold Neres to Ajax on a €15m deal. Now, besides having 3.5% of a transfer due to the solidarity mechanism, they have another 20% due to their agreement with the Dutch side.

Three potential destinations are named by UOL. They are Everton, Milan and Paris Saint Germain.

UOL says Everton are ‘ahead’ in the race, with the players preference being for the Premier League. But Milan have also made contact and PSG made an ‘informal’ approach.

It’s claimed that Neres should be sold for over €45m, and the transfer is becoming ‘more likely’ each day.
