Over the past few weeks, the Italian media regularly covered Atalanta’s pursuit of Celtic’s Matt O’Riley, who haven’t yet managed to find an agreement with Brendan Rodgers’ side.

On Monday, TuttoMercatoWeb reported the Serie A side are in continuous contact with Celtic. It was also said they have to be wary about Brighton & Hove Albion, but the player favours La Dea.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio now claims Atalanta have made a fourth offer to Celtic for the 23-year-old.

Their third proposal was around €17m, presumably plus bonuses, and Di Marzio says they have made an offer higher than this, without mentioning the exact amount. This is ‘still not enough’ to convince the Scottish champions to sanction the midfielder’s sale.

The Europa League winners have identified the Denmark international as their target to replace Teun Koopmeiners, who is set to leave them for Juventus.

Sky Italia also report the Italian club have made a new offer for O’Riley in the ‘last few hours’, but this is ‘considered insufficient’ by Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Atalanta ‘continue their pressure’ on Celtic for O’Riley and the report says a ‘new offer is needed’ for them to snatch him in this window.

Celtic are just not having any of La Dea’s efforts to get a big discount. They know they could likely get more from elsewhere this summer, or even keep the midfielder for a further season and get more next summer.
