One of the many January deals Watford pulled off was the arrival of Samuel Kalu from FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
The winger will bring a bit of speed and dribbling to Roy Hodgson’s new team, even if it was done back around the time Claudio Ranieri was still in charge.
He arrived on a minimal fee, with many believing that can easily grow, and there will be hope from both ends he hits the required clauses to increase his transfer fee, as that will likely be the sign of a good deal.
The problem for Kalu, however, is the fact he has left one rather unstable club for another, with Watford currently down in the depths of the Premier League, sitting 19th after 20 games.
Jean-Luc Arribart, a pundit on Canal+, gave his two cents on the transfer, relayed by Girondins4Ever.
He said: “What Watford are going through this season, it’s complicated, with yet another managerial change since Ranieri has just left. I don’t know what to say about Watford, they’re a team with a complete loss of confidence, who are well at the bottom of standings. I don’t know what will happen.
“At the same time, Samuel Kalu leaves a club where there were a lot of problems and I think that, all things considered, you’re better off playing in England than in Ligue 1″.
