Following the recent reports claiming PSV winger Cody Gakpo remains an important target for Manchester United in the summer window, the Dutch media sounds confident that this transfer could happen.
The latest update in his case comes from the Eindhovens Dagblad, where a former manager of the Eredivisie side talks about the possibility for the switch.
Aad De Mos believes Gakpo does want to move to Manchester United this summer, pointing out how attractive the Red Devils’ offer is for the player.
“If you can earn five times more there, it is very difficult to resist,” he told Eindhovens Dagblad (via FC Update).
“If you qualify for the Champions League on Wednesday and sell Gakpo, you will have made €100m in one day. You can’t let that go. You can’t blame Gakpo either, you can earn five times more and you play at the biggest club in the world.”
Although there’ll be little time for the Dutch side to find a replacement for Gakpo, that’s already a subject in the conversation, with De Mos pointing out an alternative in the market.
“I would think Jesper Karlsson from AZ is a good option.”
Reports at the weekend claimed Manchester United are going both for Gakpo and Ajax’s Antony.
The Red Devils have a big urge to reinforce their attacking sector in the final days of the transfer window, and seem to find the Eredivisie as the best place for their late shopping.
