Brighton and Hove Albion may not be ‘sexy enough’ for Leandro Trossard to earn a starting role with Belgium, hence talk about his future.

Trossard has been in fine form for Brighton this season, with seven goals and two assists in 12 games in the Premier League this season.

He has been in particularly good form against the top six, bagging a hattrick against Liverpool as well as goals against Manchester City and Chelsea in the last two games.

The latter have been consistently linked with a move for him for weeks, with it believed Graham Potter would like to sign his former Brighton star as part of his rebuild at Stamford Bridge.

In the meantime, Trossard continues to shine for Brighton, with his performances likely to earn him a place in Roberto Martinez’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

Whether he is a starter is up for debate, though, with the Belgian boss continuing to favour Eden Hazard despite him struggling for the past few years.

That’s something that many can’t work out, but according to Dennis van Wijk, it could be down to the attractiveness of their clubs.

“Now might be the time to leave. He is ready for a step up, you can see that now anyway,” Voetbal Niuews report him saying.

“That he doesn’t have a starting place with the Red Devils? Maybe Brighton is not glamorous enough to force a starting position? That’s why he has to start leaving there quietly.”

“He will be on many lists. That cannot be otherwise,” added Jacky Mathijssen.

“This Trossard is going to mean a lot for us at the World Cup, there is no other way.”
