James Rodríguez had his best spell with Real Madrid when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge of the Spanish club.

Ancelotti signed the Colombia international on a loan deal when he was at Bayern Munich and even tried signing him for his former club Napoli.

The manager, who joined Everton in December, has set his sights on the 28-year-old for his current club.

Earlier this week, we covered claims from AS the player is wanted by the Toffees and they have ‘asked about his situation’ at the La Liga side.

Calciomercato.it claims the possibility of Rodríguez joining Napoli has been discarded. When talking about clubs in England, they state ‘attention should also be paid to Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton’.

It’s claimed the South American could have another opportunity to ‘embrace’ the former Chelsea manager, after a failed transfer attempt [by Napoli] last summer.

Real Madrid are also ready to do business and their president Florentino Pérez is prepared to allow Rodríguez to leave for ‘less than €30m’.

The report adds Pérez has already received proposals, but doesn’t mention details of those clubs who submitted a bid for Rodríguez.
