Wednesday’s edition of AS has an article which explains what’s going on between Real Union and Aston Villa, and how that could be a bad thing for Real Sociedad.
Real Union is a lower league Basque club formed in 1915. The club is owned by the Emery family, with Unai’s brother Igor having a big part to play there.
AS report Aston Villa and Real Union ‘are in talks’ over an agreement between the two clubs, but it’s made clear that in no case would it involve a sale by the Emery family.
Instead, it would be a partnership which would help Real Union progress on and off the pitch, and potentially have have some bonuses for Aston Villa along the way.
The problem is that Real Union already have a partnership… with Real Sociedad. Aston Villa would want that to be cancelled, and it’s stated La Real’s president Jokin Aperribay is already aware of this.
There doesn’t seem to be any bad feeling, and it feels like this partnership isn’t too far away from being agreed.
