Aston Villa are ‘seriously interested’ in Eyüpspor goalkeeper Berke Özer, but Liverpool and Newcastle United are also in the mix for him.
That’s according to Fanatik, who report the goalkeeper is expected to leave Eyüpspor at some point this summer.
They report that Özer has been impressing with high-level performances in the Super Lig this season and that’s led to ‘dramatic developments’ regarding his future.
The 24-year-old has plenty of suitors and Aston Villa are one of the sides who are ‘seriously interested’ in a move for him. They consider the goalkeeper as a serious candidate to replace Emiliano Martinez at some point.
Liverpool and Newcastle are also in the mix for him and the two clubs are set to watch him live at the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium in the clash with Adana Demirspor.
Özer is very pleased that the Premier League trio are interested in him and would be very keen to play his football in England. Eyüpspor would want €12m for him, which Aston Villa, Liverpool and Newcastle could all easily afford.
We’d question if all three are genuinely interested, though, given none of them are in desperate need of a goalkeeper and Özer wouldn’t be a major upgrade on what they already have anyway.
They’re getting excited in Turkey nonetheless and we’d expect more of these reports in the coming weeks and months.
