On Friday, we covered multiple claims made in the Dutch press that PSV Eindhoven have initiated contact with Aston Villa over a potential deal Anwar El Ghazi.

The Eredivisie side will need to bring in a new winger following Noni Madueke’s ankle injury setback at the end of July. This is where the Villa player fits in and his arrival can strengthen the PSV squad.

There seems to have been a development in this case. According to De Telegraaf, PSV had an agreement with Aston Villa on a fee of €2.5m. This fee can rise to €3m if potential bonuses are included.

El Ghazi has not enjoyed much game time at Villa Park under Steven Gerrard and that saw him spend the second half of last season on loan at Everton. He is now set to leave Aston Villa in a permanent deal.

Late on Monday, the Netherlands international ‘reached an agreement’ with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side for a three-year deal. He now hopes to revive his career at PSV.

De Telegraaf’s report was covered by journalist Mike Verweij and he took to Twitter to say the former Ajax man will ‘soon’ sign a three-year deal PSV as he has ‘passed the medical examination’.
