Aston Villa are looking for a new striker on transfer deadline day, and the name at the top of their list is Tammy Abraham.

This is what Sky Sports have been reporting on Friday, explaining Steve Bruce’s side are in ‘advanced talks’ with Chelsea over the loan of the 20-year-old, who spent last season with Swansea, where he was unable to stop them from getting relegated to the Championship.

However, they aren’t the only ones on the case, as Bordeaux in France are said to be exploring the same avenue, keen to add a goalscorer after letting Gaetan Laborde go to Montpellier.

That being said, there’s good news in all of this for Aston Villa, as they appear to have the upper hand in negotiations.

This comes from Emery Taisne, a journalist at L’Equipe, in France, who states that Bordeaux aren’t that confident of getting a deal over the line because of Abraham’s parents, as they aren’t that keen on seeing their son moving to the Ligue 1 side.

Last season at Swansea did him the world of good, earning him a couple of England caps, and there’s a good chance his entourage would rather see him continue on that trajectory than gamble with a move abroad.

Bordeaux, on the other hand, could offer him Europa League football, having qualified for the group stages of the competition on Thursday night after seeing off Gent in the qualifiers.

A tough decision, but it seems Abraham is set to leave Chelsea by the end of the day some way or another, and Aston Villa looks the likelier destination
