At the weekend, we covered claims from Italy and Turkey that Aston Villa have made a new offer to sign Nicolò Zaniolo on loan with an option to buy.

It was also said the winger has said yes to the Villans but Galatasaray weren’t convinced with their proposal as it didn’t include a mandatory purchase option.

Sabah explain that Aston Villa have ‘stepped in and accelerated negotiations’ for the 24-year-old.

It’s claimed Monchi, the Premier League side’s director, initially offered a €3m loan fee plus an option to buy set at €27m [€20m plus €7m bonuses] to the Turkish champions. They rejected it.

Unai Emery has publicly admitted the Italy international is in Aston Villa’s target list. The English club have now changed their stance due to the ‘insistence’ of the former Arsenal manager.

Sabah state Aston Villa have ‘approached the conditions set’ by the Istanbul club to sell the player. This includes a mandatory purchase option as part of the temporary deal plus a percentage of the fee from his future sale.

They add the two clubs have found a ‘common point’ and therefore, ‘this transfer will end in a short time’. Whether that’s the case remains to be seen.
