Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is facing up to a month out injured after being ruled out of the World Cup with a knee injury.

That’s according to GE Globo, who say the striker could be on the treatment table when Arsenal return to Premier League table on Boxing Day.

Brazil confirmed earlier today that the Arsenal striker is set to miss the rest of the World Cup in Qatar after being forced off with a knee injury in the defeat to Cameroon last night.

Jesus, and teammate Alex Telles, underwent MRI scans today following examinations last night and the CBF reported today that both have been ruled out.

“As announced by CBF after the game against Cameroon, players Alex Telles and Gabriel Jesus underwent examinations on Saturday morning (03),” their statement said.

“Accompanied by the doctor of the Brazilian National Team, Rodrigo Lasmar, they underwent an MRI scan on their right knee that confirmed the injuries and the impossibility of recovery in time to participate in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.”

GE Globo follow that up by explaining that the coordinator of the Brazilian National Team, Juninho Paulista, is ‘in contact’ with Arsenal’s sports director Edu to see if Jesus can continue with the squad in Doha or he has to return to London.

That will be the Gunners decision, but they explain the striker had already headed to Qatar ‘experiencing pain’ after Arsenal’s games before the break.

They were already concerned, and it seems the injury has worsened, with his recovery time estimated to be as long as a month.

That will almost certainly see him miss the clash with West Ham on December 26th, and potentially even the trip to Brighton on 31st December and Newcastle’s visit on 3rd January.
