Arsenal starlet Gabriel Martinelli is perhaps one of the players who only went to the World Cup because FIFA raised the squad limit from 23 to 26.

Since the youngster wasn’t very well known in Brazil, there had even been some complaints about his call-up, so there’s pressure on him to impress if given enough of a chance.

And it turns out that, at least at national team trainings, the Arsenal player has been doing very well, according to Goal Brasil.

The outlet today features a story claiming that Martinelli has been ‘standing out’ at Brazil’s camp, as he’s been showing ‘a lot of efficiency’ in assists and goals.

Even though most sessions are closed to the press, Goal Brasil claims that by speaking to people who watch all the training sessions, they’ve found out people ‘became impressed’ with the Arsenal player’s performance.

Martinelli had only been used by Brazil in the first game against Serbia, where he played for just three minutes. However, with them already qualified for the knock-out stage, he’s expected to have a starting place in the team which will face Cameroon on Friday evening, and will finally be able to show what he’s been doing in training.
