Much like Manchester United, Arsenal are in desperate need of consolidating at the back, meaning everyone knows they want a centre-back.

This makes it difficult to find the right person at the right price, as clubs will do their utmost to keep their players out of the Gunners’ price range.

One who could end up following that pattern is Borussia Dortmund’s Dan-Axel Zagadou, whom Arsenal are interested in, according to France Football.

Unai Emery and those in charge of transfers have allegedly ‘ticked’ the former Paris Saint-Germain youth product’s name as a potential target this summer, and that’s about it so far.

These feel like rather feeble claims, as it would be surprising if the Gunners hadn’t looked at all defenders of Zagadou’s ability and ticked their names at this point.

France Football also point out Arsenal are aware it would be a difficult transfer to pull off.

The France U20 international made 17 appearances for Dortmund last season, scoring two goals, totalling 23 games in all competitions.
