Spanish defender Pablo Mari may be yet to make his official debut for Arsenal, but the Gunners already have big plans for him, according to reports.

Website Coluna do Fla brings a story saying the Premier League side have told Flamengo they’re soon making the move permanent.

Mari is currently loaned from the Brazilian side until the end of the season, with Arsenal having paid around €5m for the spell.

Now even though Mikel Arteta is still to use the defender, the outlet says the Gunners could spend up to €16m in total, including the loan fee and performance bonuses. Coluna do Fla says Flamengo already consider the sale to be underway.

Coluna do Fla is a website dedicated to Flamengo, who normally cover reports from elsewhere, so we’re not sure about how reliable they are when reporting their own news.

Either way, we shall keep an eye on the Brazilian media to see any updates on this story.
