Arsenal’s Thomas Partey ‘prioritises’ a move to Barcelona in the summer window.

That’s according to Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, and they also cover Barcelona’s stance on signing the midfielder.

The Ghana international has less than three months left on his contract at Arsenal.

Mundo state unless things change from now until the end of this season, the 31-year-old is set to leave the Gunners as a free agent. His priority is to join Barcelona.

The La Liga giants are aware of the Ghana international’s contract situation at Arsenal. It makes him a market opportunity and Barcelona had him on their target list also because of their own financial limitations.

Mikel Arteta has used Partey in his preferred role as a defensive midfielder and also as a right-back this season. He played 43 games, which includes 36 starts, this season.

Barcelona are looking for a right-back to provide cover for Jules Koundé and Partey could be an option.

The Spanish giants have the midfield position well covered by Marc Casadó, Marc Bernal and Frenkie de Jong. His desire is to continue at the Camp Nou.

De Jong’s contract expires in 2026, and Barca will sell him if he decides against signing an extension. In that case or if Barcelona need a backup right-back, the Arsenal player can be a ‘wildcard option’ in the next window.
