Catalan outlet Sport has a very complete piece on Barcelona’s chase for Arsenal star Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
They say the pursuit started back in January, when the Camp Nou side lost Luis Suarez due to an injury. That was the first time they approached the Gunners’ striker.
Aybameyang was said to be open to a move at that time, even though Arsenal considered him to be untransferable.
The player’s entourage was prepared to press the Gunners and try to get a transfer, but Barcelona ended up giving up on it, as they didn’t want to spend a lot.
Things are different now, especially because Aubameyang’s contract with Arsenal expires in 2021, and it’s claimed he’s not keen on signing an extension.
Sport reports that Arsenal have put a price tag of €55m on him. Meanwhile, Barcelona believe they could get a discount in case they convince the player to force his way out.
Aubameyang is said to be interested in moving to Camp Nou, but still, he won’t wait forever. Besides having a renewal offer from Arsenal, he also has other European giants knocking on his door.
