Andre Gomes picked up an injury when Barcelona faced Tottenham Hotspur in their preseason friendly in the United States and the midfielder is already back in Europe.

Mundo Deportivo claims his hamstring injury is less serious than initially expected and he is expected to only be on the sidelines for the next four to five weeks.

The current situation should not stop him leaving the Camp Nou as the club are keen to sanction the sale of their player this summer, with a loan now the likeliest option.

Arsenal and Valencia are the two ‘most interested’ clubs in signing the ex-Benfica man and the Portuguese international is aware of the interest from these sides.

Barcelona prefer to send Gomes to the Gunners because the ‘economic level’ of the Premier League is higher and there’d be hope of a bigger permanent transfer next summer.

The report claims, despite the denials, Unai Emery led Arsenal are ‘very attentive’ to the situation.

Ernesto Valverde’s side will lay down the terms and conditions of the transfer as they are not willing to allow their player to go on loan for free.

They want some commitment, which could likely be weak, about a buying option next summer.
